Rollerama

I am drawing a blank today so I’m just going to type about the first memory that popped into my head.

Around age 12 or 13 my parents would drop my friends and I off at Rollerama, the local roller skating rink.

We would take extra money so we could buy slushies, hot dogs, and nachos with fake orange cheese.
It was the first place that I saw adolescent romance. I remember the couples skating together around the floor to cheesy Top 40 love ballads and thinking, “This is really weird.”

I never learned to skate backwards so luckily I didn’t have to be involved in that. That’s all I got.
